Heavy Mechs are the third category of Mechanized Infantry Unit in the Steel Goliaths franchise. Heavy Mechs are designed to lead a military's ground forces into battle alongside Assault Mechs, which they also act as support for. Heavy Mechs are mainly used for the breakthrough and front line assault role, though they can be used for indirect fire support roles as well. Heavy Mechs have top speeds between 60 and 80 kp/h, weigh between 70 and 95 tons, and are equipped with heavy armor that allow Heavy Mechs to absorb large amounts of damage. Heavy Mechs tend to have adequate top speeds, large weapon loads, and excellent armor that make up for a lack in maneuverability. Militaries across the galaxy maintain large quantities of Heavy Mechs.
Heavy Mechs first appeared in the Steel Goliaths series in 2016's Steel Goliaths and have been featured in every part of the franchise since.
Steel Goliaths featured a total of twelve Heavy Mechs in its initial release, though some eight Mechs were cut before the game was shipped. More Heavy Mechs are planned to be added on in DLCs in the future.
