Dark Winter is an upcoming free-to-play first-person shooter video game developed by 141 Studios and published by Activision. The game is scheduled to be released on October 11, 2015 for Microsoft Windows and OS X with modified Xbox One and Playstation 4 ports to be released 6 months after the game comes out. Dark Winter is online multiplayer-only, but injects single-player elements such as plot and character chatter into its matches much like Titanfall.
Multiplayer is similar to that of many other first-person shooters, with the player wielding a weapon and killing enemies. With up to 12 players on each side the action is always thick and fast.Maps have dynamic interactive elements and player triggered events that make them evolve as the match goes on, from player-triggered traps to destructable environments, the entire landscape can shift and require new tactics and strategies. Objectives, communications, missions, and inventory selection are all dynamically generated based on your role, your condition, your location, your team mates, and the overall status of the battle in all gameplay modes.
A money system has been implimented allowing players to buy weapons, equipment and apparel for their Soldiers.
Assets are rewards given to the player for outstanding accomplishments. These accomplishments can range from securing flags and bombs in objective game modes to getting an exceptional amount of kills in a single life. Assets are random and hard to aquire which forces players to focus on gun-on-gun combat.
Common Assets are quick to deploy and usually offer you and your team some support while rare Assets are used to assault the opposing team.

Tactical Upgrades are perks which grant the player unique abilites to provide an edge on the battlefield. They are separted into two tiers and are unlocked by rank.
