Abigail is a 20-year old female character that acts as the protagonist of After Death: Season One. She was a citizen of London before the 2015 bubonic plague outbreak caused the collapse of the governments of the United Kingdom and western Europe. She grew up in the London borough of Greenwich and left the house when she was 16, feeling her parents would be happier with not having to care for her. Due to leaving abruptly without any real planning, she spent several years either homeless or squatting, trying to hold down any small jobs she could get.
When the initial bubonic cases were reported, Abigail was living on the streets of Canary Wharf, and when numerous cases of pneumonic plague were reported and the United Kingdom was declared to be in a state of emergency, she was moved into the designated safe area of 1 West India Quay. This safe area was also inhabited by Andrew, Eliza, Kevin and Grant, who she befriended whilst living there. When the military stopped regulating the safe areas and began executing infected people, Abigail and the group opted to stay together. They stayed hidden in Canary Wharf for weeks during the mass extermination event, but soon started to search for others, which is where the first episode begins.
